Reveiw of 2000
Hertford District Ready Steady Cook, February 2000
On the evening of Tuesday, February 8th, teams of Hertford Scouts and Guides came head to head to see who would become the Ready Steady Cook Champions of 2000.
Ten teams from Hertford and Watton-at-Stone competed in a race against the clock to create the tastiest meal with the ingredients given to them. The teams were provided with pots, pans, utensils and gas rings to whip up their culinary creations which were judged on taste, presentation and originality.
Teams were given 45 minutes to cook their main meal plus another 15 to create a sweet, so good team work was a must. The competition was judged by a panel of 'experts' headed by Hertford District Commissioner Chris Searle. After much debate 2nd Bengeo Scouts were declared the winners with their succulent stuffed chicken breasts. Well done to them and to all who took part, we look forward to seeing you next year.
The competition was launched last year by Goblin VSU and is set to beacome a regular fixture on the Hertford District Guide and Scout calender.

Peak Assault, March 2000
The 2000 Peak Assault was held on Dartmoor.
Goblin VSU had just one team in last years event. They finished respectably in 15th place. Its also worth mentioning that the team managed to set one of their tents on fire (thanks to Delahay) and also rescued a cow which had become stuck in a bog on their way back to base camp on Sunday morning. An eventful weekend all round.
