Current News

Well that's it folks!
It's now 2003 and Goblin VSU has officially ended.
To mark the occasion we held and a dinner and karaoke, attended by ventures old and new. It was a great evening (what I can remember).
All our membership are moving to Hertford Explorer Scouts and Scout Network which we look forward to.
And for this web site? Well, apart from links to the new section website when they arrive, no more updates are going to be made. The site will remain in situ for you to enjoy and please continue to leave messages on the gustbook.
Hope you liked it, and thanks to all those who contributed to the features. Goblin VSU R.I.P.

Last ever Programme!

Goblin’s last programme now published which takes us upto Christmas 2002. In the new year Explorers and Network will take over (see note below).
Stay tuned for updates re our end of Ventures party. Goblin VSU R.I.P.  more...

Long Weekend in Wales
The Unit have recently returned from a long weekend in Snowdonia. We stayed at Coetmor Mill Bethesda. It rained all day Friday, but a group of keen mountainbikers travelled down to Coed y Brenin and the rest of unit battled up Devils Kitchen on a walk that was described as bracing.
Saturday brought better walking conditions and we all enjoyed a stroll up Carnedd Llewellyn. The evening was a highlight with Uggi’s now legendary Banzai.
On Sunday we cycled up and over to Llanberis before we returned to the Mill to pack up and come home.
Top weekend, photos to follow.

Ventures 2002…….2003 Explorers/Network Update
As you are all aware Venture Scouting is coming to as end as we know it to be replaced by Explorer Scouts and Scout Network. In Hertford the plan is to have an Explorer Unit (14 to18 yr olds) and Scout Network (18 to 25 yr olds) up and running in the new year (2003). Goblin VSU will continue to run up until Christmas 2002 (big end of Ventures party is in the pipeline).
Can I remind you that most of you will transfer straight into the Scout Network, even though some of you may not quite be 18. For you younger Ventures (those recently or soon to be invested) you will become the backbone of the new Explorer Unit.
What about the Leaders? Well you ain’t quite got rid of us. Stuart and I (Andrew) are becoming ADC Activities and will help provide an active programme for the Explorers and Scout Network. We’ll still be dragging you up and down those there hills.

Peak Assault Victory

Goblin VSU finished 5th in this year's Peak Assault. A great result which also meant we finished highest out of all those units entering only a single team and therefore claimed the Lydia Jack Trophy. Unfortunately due to a mess up at the presentation we were not awarded the Lydia Jack Trophy! We'll have to wait for that.
Well done to Mike, Ed, Turbo, Sam and Rob S. Photos are here...
